Thanks for sharing the truth Gary. Old age can be rough at times. The pain is real.

I dont know if others have been through this but I got tired of being talked over and around. When I spoke up they (my family) all looked shocked. When I explained that I felt left out, overlooked and lonely and not all at once the quiet was deafening. They were all trying to talk at once. It was an awakening for them. Same for my doctor. Talk to me--I am you patient. It feels good to speak up. And no anger needed. Just truth!

I love what you have to say about aging. Especially the thought that we would like to know what to expect. I was talking with a friend yesterday about not knowing…is this new development in my health typical? Or should I look into it? Sometimes it’s hard to know. In my head I’m ageless. My body tells a different story, but I can deal with it.

Several years ago my husband was having a frightening dream and he swung his arms around and gave me a black eye. Shocking! We were going to meet our son’s fiancé for the first time the next day. Not a good look!

Thanks for your wise words.

I enjoyed this post and very much related. I also like to write about the truths of getting older, and I love the term - a spiller. Getting old is not for cissies, but it certainly beats the alternative, and we have a choice about the actual way we approach the ups and downs.

I enjoyed that Gary. I am a spiller too. I find that a lot of people are attracted to reading raw and honest truths but that others find it too much or unnecessary - especially family members. I try to hover my writing somewhere in between.

I celebrate you Gary, your honesty, and your willingness to be vulnerable and vocal. This is a special time. Never before have seniors been as transparent and sharing about the aging experience as we see now. I’m glad to be part of this empowering time.

This is interesting. I did not know about this condition. I guess that means I am one of the lucky ones who doesn't have it. Thanks for the info.
